Can You Open a New Etsy Account After a Ban?
Opening a new Etsy account after a ban is prohibited under Etsy's Terms of Use. If Etsy has permanently closed your account, creating a new account to continue selling is considered ban evasion and can result in the new account being suspended as well. However, understanding the full policy, the limited exceptions, and what options genuinely exist after an Etsy ban helps you respond appropriately to your situation.
Why Is My Etsy Shop Under Suspension?
Your Etsy shop is under suspension when Etsy has deactivated your listings and closed your shop to buyers due to a detected policy violation, account review, or Trust & Safety action. A shop suspension means your products are no longer visible or purchasable, and your ability to sell on the platform is paused. Understanding the specific reason your Etsy shop is suspended is the critical first step toward resolving the situation.
How Long Does Etsy Account Review Take?
An Etsy account review typically takes between 24 hours and several business days, depending on the reason for the review and the complexity of the case. Etsy places accounts under review when its systems detect activity that requires closer examination before a final decision is made. Understanding how long an Etsy account review takes and what happens during the process helps you know what to expect and how to respond.
Can Etsy Ban You Permanently?
Yes, Etsy can and does permanently ban seller and buyer accounts for serious or repeated violations of its Terms of Use, Seller Policies, or Prohibited Items Policy. A permanent Etsy ban means your account is closed, all listings are removed, and you are barred from opening a new account. Understanding what triggers a permanent Etsy ban and whether it can be appealed helps you protect your shop and your selling history on the platform.
Why Did Etsy Suspend My Seller Account?
Etsy suspends seller accounts when its automated systems or Trust & Safety team detect activity that violates the platform's Seller Policy, Prohibited Items Policy, or Terms of Use. A suspension means your shop is no longer visible to buyers and all listings are deactivated. Understanding why Etsy suspended your seller account helps you determine whether an appeal is possible and what steps are needed to address the situation.
